The way we

Work

Bespoke lighting

The ambient around us is amended by using light as a construction material, bringing life to various elements, surrounding our clients with masterpieces.

We enhance the beauty of any material or object showing its natural secret veining and texture.

Light Atelier

The contribution of each of our employees makes the difference between the production of mass standardised products designated for the shop shelf and a unique tailor made creation.

We are like a “light atelier” where extraordinary lighting creations are made satisfying the most particular desires of our clients. Our hand-crafted technological production permits a high degree of customisation in shapes, dimensions, materials and quantities.

The individual skills of our team members within the lighting industry provides a great know-how in developing more traditional solutions, which today we deliver with more intelligent and innovative functionality and performance on demand.

Light + material

Light and material are shaped in custom forms and dimensions and merged together to create new effects and atmospheres not seen before.

Any translucent or semi-translucent material, natural or artificial, is used to decorate ambiences or create objects. With our incorporated lighting systems the light always appears homogenously, distributed perfectly on the surface without any visible dot effects, guaranteeing equilibrium and harmony.

NATURAL STONE

One of the most extraordinary applications of our lighting systems is to use marble, onyx, alabaster and semiprecious stones. Our experience in calculating the light diffusion and the translucency of the material makes all projects unique and provides a balance between art and design. On custom projects we offer a complete integration of natural stones and light with a dedicated fastening system if needed. The final result is a plug & play product with easy maintenance and installation, ideal for all applications but also for wet areas and large formats.

LEATHER

Light passes through leather thanks to a particular process where laser perforates its surface. The micro dimensions of the perforations leave the natural conditions of the leather. While backlit, the selected perforated design will be completely visible viewed from different angles. Shapes, patterns and colours of the leather can be customised in accordance with personal taste, style and trends.

PLASTIC MATERIALS

Plastic materials are easy to work with and available in many different finishes, colours and versions. Being permeable to light makes them ideal for creating particular lighting effects. By engraving different patterns on the back the frontal appearance will only appear as light once the device is turned on.

PMMA

The PMMA, although not considerated a ‘noble’ material is very suitable for insertion in any environment where it can be used for contrast or assonance. Easy to work with it has an excellent optical performance that makes it very attractive when illuminated. Available in many variants it is perfect for chandalier and monolithic compositions, also for small dimensions, to integrate in the furnishings.

CRYSTAL

Crystal creations and their natural behaviour reflect light making it an ideal material to use for amazing lighting applications. Crystals inserted in walls, doors and tables suddenly becomes luminous thanks to our hidden light technology. We have used the Swarovski® crystals integrated by hand on onyx slabs and backlit with our lighting systems letting the designed pattern glow, while lit up, creating an exclusive touch to the project.

GLASS

Glass gives interesting effects; which can be realised due to its high transparency and the possibility to create printed, engraved or designed décor. The great choice of colours, shapes and textures makes this a very interesting material to work with. Glass can also be used as construction material to create luminous shelves or furniture interiors. With our lighting solutions the complete surface is illuminated, not only the edges, giving a perfect uniformity.

EMBEDDED MATERIALS

Precious metal, natural stone and objects can be embedded by using a multi-layer processing in Plexiglas®. The unique method permits a high degree of customization in choice of shapes and sizes and the composition let the light move freely and homogeneously. The embedded objects are completely protected from any kind of penetration or damage and gives an extraordinary lighting effect in any architectural setting by having a floating appearance due to its high transparency.

WOOD

We have developed a technique that permits wood to be used like any kind of natural translucent material used for backlighting. After various studies and attempts we have been able to make the wood “transparent” and it can now be used for a diverse range of applications making an ambient more unique. The light appears impalpable on the surface showing predefined shapes and dimensions extracting each wood species’ unique colour tones and natural textures.

CONCRETE

Translucent concrete is an innovative material. The unique light pattern is created by using embedded webbed fibre optics, making the material translucent and ideal for integrated lighting. The concrete seems gigantic but at the same time, when illuminated, elegant and sophisticated. Walls, floors and horizontal surfaces become statement pieces and incredible effects can be obtained when used as walling allowing silhouettes to be seen on the opposite side while passing by.

Turnkey
Process

1. Bespoke lighting

A careful analysis of the content, lead time and costs allow us to achieve an excellent standard. The sharing of information within our team and with external professionals such as architects, carpenters, marble cutters and electricians, gives a precise evaluation of all stages of the project.

2. Feasibility studies

When we talk about the ambient, specific details such as the site location, structure accessibility and current work status are all necessary aspects to take into consideration. In regards to the product, knowledge of the application and expected performances related to the set budget are all important aspects studied during the feasibility stage. Our engineering team uses FEA (Finite Element analysis) to calculate the component displacements, strains and stresses under internal and external loads to ensure quality, performance and safety of the mechanical structure of the components that we realise.

3. Project presentation

The proposal of a project is a very important moment in which dreams and expectations comes together. We develop ideas relevant to the particular project, starting from the available budget, technical data and drawings, renderings, and actual photographs.

4. Design development

The technical design and detail of each component of the project are fundamental to us. Promotech’s know-how in production methods, machinery and materials let us make the best choices during the design and planning stage. We measure the light positioning and we create light renderings by using sophisticated 3D simulation software while our product and project design department uses FEM (Finite Element method) software.

5. Production and quality control

Ideas come to life. Measurements, sizes and CAD design are transformed into reality thanks to the combination of materials, components and manufacturing. The production team works together to deliver the best balance between design and functionality. Each piece is measured and quality controlled by a separate unit.

6. Supervision during installation

Every project requires careful attention during each step and a good interaction between all the parties involved. Our supervision before and after installation is a guarantee of quality and efficiency specifying the installation method on our developed projects to train installers for a precise fitting every time. We also offer our clients installation upon request.
